High Protein Cheeseburger

A nourishing twist on a classic favorite, packed with protein and flavor, perfect for burger lovers.

Ingredients

  • 1 lb lean ground beef
  • 1 cup shredded cheese (your choice, such as cheddar or mozzarella)
  • 1/4 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Burger buns
  • Lettuce
  • Tomato, sliced
  • Onion, sliced
  • Pickles

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Mixture: In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, shredded cheese, breadcrumbs, egg, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper. Mix until just combined; avoid over-mixing which can lead to tough patties.
  2. Shape the Patties: Divide the mixture into four equal parts and shape them into patties. Make them slightly wider than your buns as they will shrink during cooking.
  3. Heat Your Cookware: Preheat your grill or skillet over medium heat. If using a skillet, add a small amount of oil to prevent sticking.
  4. Cook the Patties: Place the patties on the grill or skillet. Cook for 4-5 minutes on each side, or until they reach your desired doneness. Aim for an internal temperature of 160°F for safety.
  5. Assemble the Burgers: Once the patties are cooked, place them on burger buns. Add lettuce, tomato slices, onion rings, and pickles as desired.
  6. Serve Immediately: Enjoy your high protein cheeseburgers hot off the grill or skillet for maximum flavor!

Notes

Ground Beef: Lean beef reduces fat without sacrificing flavor. Ground turkey or chicken can be used as substitutes for a lighter pattie. Cheese: Choose your favorite cheese; feel free to mix different kinds, such as pepper jack for a spicy kick. Breadcrumbs: These help bind the patty together. For gluten-free options, use gluten-free breadcrumbs or ground oats.
