Gluten Free Apple Crisp

A delightful dessert featuring sweet, tender apples topped with a buttery, crispy oat mixture, perfect for gluten-free diets.

Ingredients

  • 5 cups peeled chopped apples (mix of sweet and tart)
  • 1 tbsp granulated sugar (optional)
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • ¾ cup gluten-free old-fashioned oats
  • ¾ cup gluten-free 1-to-1 flour
  • 8 tbsp cold unsalted butter, cut into cubes
  • 1 tsp cinnamon

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit. Butter an 8-inch square pan or spray it with nonstick spray.
  2. Combine the chopped apples, granulated sugar, cinnamon, and lemon juice in a large bowl. Toss until well coated.
  3. Spread the apple mixture evenly into the bottom of the prepared pan.
  4. Mix the brown sugar, oats, gluten-free flour, and cinnamon in a mixing bowl. Add the cold butter cubes and break up the butter until it resembles coarse crumbs.
  5. Evenly distribute the crisp topping over the apple layer.
  6. Bake for 45 to 50 minutes, or until the filling is bubbly and apples are fork-tender.
  7. Cool slightly before serving. Enjoy warm, ideally with vanilla ice cream.

Notes

For best results, mix sweet and tart apples and keep butter cold for a flaky topping. Adjust sugar based on apple sweetness.
