Ingredients

  • 5 cups bread flour or all-purpose flour
  • 2 packets Fleischmann’s RapidRise instant yeast
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar (packed)
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 1/4 teaspoons ground ginger
  • 1 cup warm milk (110°F)
  • 2 large eggs (room temperature)
  • 6 tablespoons butter (softened)
  • 1/4 cup molasses
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar (packed)
  • 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon ground ginger
  • 1 stick butter (softened)
  • 6 ounces cream cheese (softened)
  • 4 tablespoons butter (softened)
  • 1 1/2 tablespoons molasses
  • 2 teaspoons ground ginger
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 cups powdered sugar

Instructions

  1. Combine the Dry Ingredients: In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the bread flour, instant yeast, brown sugar, salt, and ground ginger.
  2. Mix Wet Ingredients: In another bowl, mix the warm milk, eggs, softened butter, molasses, and vanilla extract until well combined.
  3. Pour the wet mixture into the dry ingredients and mix until a sticky dough forms.
  4. Turn the dough onto a lightly floured surface and knead for about 10 minutes until it becomes smooth and elastic.
  5. Place the kneaded dough in a greased bowl, cover it with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for 1 hour.
  6. In a bowl, combine the brown sugar, ground cinnamon, and ground ginger for the filling.
  7. Soften the stick of butter and spread it evenly on the rolled-out dough before sprinkling the cinnamon sugar mixture on top.
  8. After the dough has risen, punch it down and roll it out on a floured surface into a rectangle (about 15×24 inches).
  9. Spread the butter over the dough. Sprinkle the cinnamon-sugar filling evenly over the butter.
  10. Roll the dough tightly from the long edge and slice it into 12 equal portions.
  11. Place the rolls upright in a greased baking dish, cover with a cloth, and let them rise again for about 30 minutes.
  12. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and bake the cinnamon rolls for 20-25 minutes.
  13. In a mixing bowl, beat together the softened cream cheese, butter, molasses, ginger, cinnamon, vanilla, and powdered sugar until smooth for the frosting.
  14. Allow the rolls to cool slightly before spreading the frosting over the top.
  15. Serve warm.

Notes

Ensure to let the rolls rise properly for the best texture and don’t skip the frosting for a delightful finish.
